No Matching Rods

Have the same problem as previous reviewer - the rods don't match the Conversion bracket( (55655).. Tried to file down to make the bracket fit but that was unsatisfactory. The bracket does not even fit new rods. I too am puzzled why the bracket and rod are not complimentary.

There are no matching rods
Doug

This bracket was going to be a HUGE time saver for updating an older closet. However, the current (SuperSlide) rods available off the shelf DO NOT fit in the bracket. After a lengthy hold with Closet Maid customer service to research options, I was told they do not offer a matching rod to fit in the Conversion Bracket (55655). Sooo - Why is this product even offered for sale if nothing works with it. Curiously, I was told they had not had this question before. If that's the case, what rod is everyone using to update their closets with this product designed to update older closets?

Design flaw
Blake

These are easy to install and are very rugged except for one major design flaw. When installed on shelving that includes a built in rod (SHELF & ROD-CARTONED) they don't hold up. In that configuration the shelf wire fits through the bottom and top holes (as currently pictured in the example on the product page). The middle hole, used for other style shelves, is left empty. The plastic between it and the bottom hole is so thin it provides no support so all the weight is supported by the plastic above the top hole. It will eventually fail if you have the rod heavily loaded, sending the rod and clothes crashing to the floor. This happened to me in several bedrooms. To fix this I placed the supports at 12" spacing instead of the recommended 36" AND fashioned wooden plugs/dowels that snugly/completely fill the middle hole, providing the much needed support to the bottom rail of the shelf. Major pain but ... problem solved. I wish I could upload a picture to illustrate. Closet Maid could, at almost no cost, include plastic plugs to fill that middle hole in installations where it's not being used, making this product MUCH stronger. With that one small change this would be a 5 star review.

Everything worked as advertised. It took about 15 minutes to install 4 rods. The only complaint is that it is way too pricey for a $1 part.

I manage a property with 49 units. All closets have closetmaid storage installed. In less than 2 years, I replaced 50-60 of the old J hooks that came with the shelving as they break continuously and are useless. I then purchased a dozen of these new universal brackets and they are the answer to the closet rod brackets! I am ordering more and replacing all the old brackets as they continue to fail.
