Worthless
Anne

We have the original tall posts in our PANTRY. In a Pantry, the shelving is made to hold weight of canned goods for example and the weight of sweaters and clothing is not a comparable. We have expanded the pantry and need full size posts to hold up the weight of canned goods, 5 pounds of flour, 4 pounds of sugar and all the other food supplies. Your NEW system of cutting the poles in half and adding a toy plastic piece is not acceptable and will not hold weight for a pantry for a family of four or more. I cannot see this as an improvement or a benefit to your company as when dividing a structural post in half and adding in a toy plastic piece to put them back together that will not hold weight is useless, worthless and not in the best interest of your customers. As you can see from your own reviews, they collapse or are only being used to hold up clothing. Please let me know how we can purchase full size poles. If you cannot provide quality products, we will be forced to remove our system and replace it with one from another manufacturer who provides quality and useful materials. Thank you for your time.

Almost worthless!
Annoyed customer
Aug 21, 2020
This once good product is now almost worthless! The "shelf support pole" was changed from one rigid steel pole, which is no longer available, and now consists of two rigid steel "pole pieces" connected by a plastic, yes PLASTIC "joiner". A force applied to the pole when assembled results in instability from flexing at the joiner. Rigid steel above, rigid steel below, and a piece of molded plastic in the middle, it's not rocket science determining the weakest link. Only when the pole was used with multiple shelves attached to the wall studs and spaced across the full length of the two pole pieces was the pole some what stable.

Great product for its purpos
Jul 21, 2019
I've used these poles for many years, and they still endure with zero problems. My problem is they're not carried by local retailers, but I'm not giving up. So, I'm going to order some more for one more closet. To the reviewer who said the two-piece pole is useless, I believe its either been misinstalled or drastically overloaded, and I say that because if any installation is overloaded, it's mine. I have just two poles, centered, supporting a half dozen garment shelves. Four of them are four feet wide, three feet of which are given over to hangered garments and footwear, while the other two foot-wide shelves hold sweaters and sweatshirts along with the four-footers. I can't imagine an organized life w/o ClosetMaid products.

Support Poles Useless
Jeff
Sep 5, 2018
Due to the 2 piece pole, the support is useless. Closet Maid used to make a pole that was one piece. Why they discontinued it is beyond me. I have both in my house and my shelves with a 2 piece pole have collapsed. My shelves with the one piece pole are fine and by the way, the one piece pole was installed about 15 years ago and the 2 piece pole, about 8 years ago (and they collapsed over the weekend). If I could give this product 0 stars, I would.

Not great design
Pole connector stinks
Jun 21, 2017
Plastic connector between the pole pieces is super flimsy. You need multiple shelves to make it remotely useful

2 poles joined with a joiner
dissapointed customer
Jun 16, 2017
this product is not very stable because it is 2 poles joined together instead of 1 long piece.

Wire shelving support
Bogey88
Aug 9, 2015
The pre drilled holes are 14” apart. However it's quite easy to custom drill your own after the shelving is in place. Also if your flooring is incomplete as no floor tiles in our case, you should allow for that.
